News
New bishop to be welcomed
at special services in Nottingham and Worksop
People from parishes across the city and county
will be coming together to give a warm welcome to the new Bishop of Southwell
& Nottingham, the Rt Revd Paul Butler. Following his installation at
Southwell Minster on Saturday (27th February) the doors are open at two further
welcome events this month, when the Bishop will join in the services of

New
Bishop plans tram ‘pilgrimage’ to get to know the city
The
new Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham will take a special journey of
discovery today, when he makes his own personal ‘pilgrimage’ on the Tram from
Hucknall into Nottingham City Centre. The Rt Revd Paul Butler, who was
installed as the new Anglican Bishop for Nottinghamshire on Saturday at
Southwell Minster, will be visiting projects, meeting people and finding out
about a range of communities along the tram route during his seven hour

Leaflet of introduction from Bishop Paul:
Copies
of a black and white A5 leaflet with an introductory message from the new
Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham have been mailed out to all clergy this
week. The leaflets will also be available for anyone who would like one
at both welcome services this month, at St Mary’s Nottingham and Worksop
Priory. Anyone who would like further copies to give out to church members will
be able to collect them from Dunham House until Tuesday 16th
March 2010. Any remaining leaflets will be given out to Deanery reps meeting
that evening in Dunham House, to be distributed across the deaneries as
soon as possible. The simple leaflet is also available via the diocesan website

in Checking
Briefing
on CRB, Vetting and Barring, and ISA
EXTRA
SESSION:
Southwell
- Dunham House. Tuesday April 13th, 7.30pm
The
forthcoming introduction of the Vetting and Barring Scheme, operated by the
Independent Safeguarding Authority, will change the way churches employ
volunteers and staff. This Briefing evening will take you through the changes,
implications for CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checks, and all that you need to
know in order to comply with the law.
This
is an extra session for those who have missed the 10-session 'roadshow'.
This
briefing are led by Barbara Selley and Nick Harding. They are for all clergy in
the deanery, all those responsible for checking CRB applications, and named
people for child protection.

Magazine – Spring issue
Please
note that the Spring issue of C Magazine has now been delivered into the
deaneries and is ready for collection.
Please be aware that magazines that are
delivered to offices will only be stored for two weeks after the delivery
date, so as not to become an inconvenience to the staff working
there. We will, therefore, remove your parcels if they have not been
collected by Friday 12th March 2010.
Could the churches in the Mansfield Deanery
please ensure that they make their collections from St Peter’s Church Office
within this period as there are always uncollected orders left here.
One Generation from Extinction?
In
a compelling and thought provoking presentation Mark Griffiths examines how the
Church reached the unchurched child in the past and details how many pioneering
groups are seeking to do the same in the 21st Century. Mark
will help you grasp how many are helping to restock the imagination of children
with the message of Jesus and planting the seeds for many more generations of
witness.

Diocese are seeking a Morning Receptionist / Administrative Assistant to work
from 8.45 am to 1.15 pm Monday to Friday (22½ hours). The starting
salary is £7,727 p.a. (full time equivalent £12,020, rising to £13,110 p.a.
after probationary period). Contribution of 10% of salary into a nominated
stakeholder personal pension plan.
