Coal was discovered in the area in 1905 . . . and Forest Town rapidly expanded with St. Alban's Church built to
cater for the spiritual needs of the growing population. The coal pits have long since gone, but many houses continue
to be built within the Parish. A large industrial estate stands where the main
coal mine was situated.

BUS: Stagecoach Mansfield buses 16, 16A, 15, 14 pass the Church frequently, running on the
route Mansfield, Forest Town, Clipstone, Edwinstowe (14/15), Ollerton 14/15), Walesby (15), Kirton (14).
Also Veolia (Dunn Line) service 17 from
Mansfield to Crown Farm passes the Church. (Not Sunday)
